Are your timber floors looking a little worse for wear? They say prevention is better than a cure.
If you truly love and respect your beautiful timber floors, you will understand that over time, finishes start to wear and show their signs of age and require periodic maintenance to keep them looking in tip-top condition. When the top layer of a wooden floor’s protective surface is stained or has light scratches, a re-coat will effectively restore its original beauty. Doing so before the surface becomes too far gone is a more economical approach; it is an excellent alternative to a full renovation, with a lower cost and less downtime.
What maintenance coatings do you provide?
There are a variety of maintenance coatings available across our Bona, Whittle Wax and Toby’s Poly ranges, including penetrating oils, waxes, and water-based polyurethanes. Each type of coating has its own pros and cons and is suited to specific timbers and living conditions. Our experienced professionals in Hobart can help you choose the right coating for your home or commercial space.
How often should I have a maintenance coating applied to my timber floorboards ?
Whilst every floor is subject to different amounts of foot traffic we generally recommend a maintenance coating every 3-5 years to maintain the gorgeous appearance and durable protection of hardwood floors. During a maintenance coating we give the floors a light sanding to smooth out any light scratches and general wear and tear before applying a top up coating of either oil based or polyurethane to match the original coating. This will restore the lustre and intended finish to your floorboards and fortify the durable protection layer for years to come.
